Committees
The Board may establish committees, as it considers necessary or appropriate, to assist in carrying out its responsibilities. Each committee has a charter, setting out the matters relevant to its composition, responsibilities, and administration. While committees have specific membership, all Trustees are able to attend where desired. The following committees are currently available to the Board:
Audit and Risk Committee
The committee assists the Board in discharging its governance and administrative responsibilities. The committee’s role includes:
- reviewing the management of risk, including overseeing the risk register and ensuring appropriate internal controls are in place to address those risks
- monitoring the compliance of QSuper and QSuper Limited with legislative requirements
- reviewing internal and external audit findings and monitoring the implementation of audit recommendations
- reviewing financial statements.

Investment Committee
The committee provides assistance to the Board to discharge its investment oversight in relation to the Fund. The principal duties and responsibilities of the committee include:
- recommending to the Board the investment objectives for the Fund and its various member investment choice (MIC) options
- recommending to the Board the investment policy for the Fund
- monitoring investment performance, including the performance of QIC as investment manager
- discussing investment issues with the Board and/or QSuper Limited management (and independent parties, if and when the need arises).
Members: the committee consists of all Board members.
Insurance Claims Management Committee
The committee oversees the insurance products of QSuper and considers new initiatives and the strategic direction of claims management. It is a forum for discussion on claims management practices, initiatives, and reporting.
Members: Ms Karen S Peut (Chair), Mr Peter Henneken and Mr Tom Jeffers.
Licensing Committee
The committee provides assistance to the Board and QSuper Limited management in discharging their corporate governance and oversight responsibilities in consideration of QSuper becoming a regulated fund and QSuper Limited becoming an Australian Financial Services (AFS) Licensee.
Members: Mr John J Carpendale (Chair), Ms Teresa M Hamilton, Ms Natalie M MacDonald and Mr Stephen R Ryan.
Marketing and Communications Committee
The committee reviews marketing strategies and timeframes for their implementation, as well as oversighting the due diligence for QSuper member publications.
Members: Mr John J Carpendale (Chair), Ms Natalie M MacDonald, Mr Stephen R Ryan, and Ms Gay Hawksworth.
Accommodation Committee
The committee was created to oversee the development of the fit-out proposals for the new QSuper premises located at Central Plaza III.
Members: Ms Teresa M Hamilton (Chair), Mr John J Carpendale and Ms Gay Hawksworth.
Human Resources Committee
The committee considers matters relating to QSuper’s human resources policies, including:
- remuneration relating to staff employed by QSuper Limited
- recruitment and selection
- conditions of employment
- training and development
- termination and succession planning.
Members: Mr Stephen R Ryan (Chair), Mr Gerard P Bradley and Mr Robert E Scheuber.
QSuper Executive Committee
Chaired by the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Committee of QSuper Limited also includes the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Strategy Officer. The committee is responsible for addressing strategic issues and providing assistance and advice to the Board.
