Changing jobs

Did you know...
If you leave QSuper, you cannot rejoin unless you (or spouse) return to work for the QLD government.

David Alexander
QSuper member since 2004

When you leave your current job, you don't have to leave QSuper.

Do I have to leave QSuper when I stop working for the Queensland Government?

Leaving Queensland Government employment does not mean having to leave QSuper. In fact, we currently have more than 200,000 members who no longer work for the Queensland Government but have chosen to keep their superannuation with QSuper. Many of those members periodically transfer super from later jobs back to their QSuper account.

Who can be a QSuper member?

Membership is only open to current and former Queensland State Government employees and their spouses.

Can I get my new employer to pay my super to QSuper?

QSuper is only able to accept contributions from Queensland Government employers and agencies able to prove a strong link to the Queensland Government, and is not open to the general public.

If you would like to find out if your new employer is eligible to contribute to QSuper you should ask your human resources department to contact us.

Can I leave QSuper and rejoin later?

If you do decide to leave us, you cannot rejoin unless you or your spouse return to work with the Queensland Government. We, therefore, suggest you think carefully before giving up your QSuper membership. Once it's gone it may be impossible to get back, and you could be missing out on the great range of benefits, services, and features.
